“The Science and Experience of Chanting” is a two-part series exploring the spiritual connection of chanting, meditation and why it is good for our bodies and for deepening our connection to the divine.

Week Two – EXPERIENCE – As we experience various types of sacred chanting as applied to meditation, we will examine our own voices, and quietly journal to answer questions about our relationship with our voices physically and metaphorically. Are we speaking/chanting our truth clearly? Are we using our voices to connect with God in a meaningful manner? Are we preparing ourselves for meditation with “radical sincerity”? This week’s session will give us the tools to walk away with chanting ability, regardless of past beliefs about our ability to chant freely. We will create a safe, non-judgmental environment for chanting as a community together.

James Schaller is a clinical musician, composer and sound consultant, who has created music programs for hospices and trained medical staffs about how to use therapeutic music nationwide. Maria Del Rey-Schaller is a Latin Grammy-nominated recording artist, family media producer and the publisher of ChildGood Magazine. Together they produce The Healer’s Visit, a music and video outreach.  They inspire caregivers around the world about how to enhance pastoral care through music and visitation, with the power of sound to develop the “compassionate visit.”
