Led by Marygrace Lomboy, MSN, CRNP, ACHPN, CWCN, Family Nurse Practitioner at Hospice and Community Care
We are all exposed to the powerful effects of stress. During the stress reaction, the body is flooded with stress hormones, which affects our health and well-being. Mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) practices have been clinically proven to reduce stress and anxiety, increase focus and cognitive flexibility, support your immune function and more. The goal of mindfulness practice is to calm the nervous system and to develop mindful responses to stressful events in place of harmful stress reactivity.
This workshop will allow you to learn and experience skills that will enhance your ability to cultivate peace within yourself and community. The skills introduced will include gentle mindful movement, mindfulness of breath, walking meditation as well as some informal practices that you can easily practice daily to help reduce anxiety.
