We are all exposed to the powerful effects of stress.  When one’s body reacts to stress, it’s flooded with stress hormones, which affects our health and well-being.  Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) practices have been clinically proven to reduce stress and anxiety, increase focus and cognitive flexibility, support your immune function, and more.  The goal of mindfulness practice is to calm one’s nervous system and to develop mindful responses to stressful events in place of harmful stress reactivity.

This workshop will allow you to learn and experience skills that will enhance your ability to cultivate peace within yourself and community.  The skills introduced will include gentle mindful movement, mindfulness of breath, and walking meditation, as well as some informal practices that you can easily practice daily to help reduce anxiety.

Marygrace K. Lomboy has completed a teacher training program in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction at University of California San Diego and is also a certified yoga instructor. She teaches a devotional yoga practice at Highland Presbyterian Church. She is passionate about teaching prevention of compassion fatigue and burnout, anxiety reduction, and mindfulness techniques to the community, business leaders, healthcare workers, and nonprofessional caregivers.

She has over 30 years of experience in nursing and is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with Palliative Medicine Consultants and Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
