Listening makes up a huge chunk of our communication. It’s a vital and often untapped skill that we often overlook in our own need to be heard.  Listening and civility go hand in hand. If we can’t listen to the people we love, we will struggle even more to hear those whose values do not match our own, whose beliefs can even offend us.

Learning the practice of mindful listening is a key step in civility.  Listening takes practice. The listening challenges we explore in this workshop are designed to help you concretely hone the ability to absorb, focus, and strengthen listening skills. When practiced, they will impact your relationships in remarkably civil ways.

With a Master’s of Science in Communication and a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Sarah has served as a professor of communication at both Millersville University and Penn State University since 2003.  In addition to her expertise in high performance communication (verbal, nonverbal, written), Sarah has practiced mindfulness since 2004 (yoga, meditation, journaling, deep listening).  She participated in trainings and certifications with Deepak Chopra, David Simon, Tara Brach and Jon Kabat-Zinn.  Sarah is a Certified Meditation Instructor (CMI) and has completed Mindfulness training through the University of California, Berkeley.  Her practice is heavily influenced by the teachings of Deepak Chopra, Tara Brach and Osho.

Sarah brings the evidence-based practices of mindfulness and authentic communication into your workplace.
